They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue!

Yeah, Malone knew the deal alright. And since Andy (of Creepy Corridor fame) recently painted a bunch of dire wolves together with his vampire I thought I'd fight fire with fire and get some hounds for myself. Five baying mastiffs to be precise!

Woof!

These guys are actually the reason I decided to start a Witch Hunter warband. I had some ideas floating around (as well as quite a few different miniatures) but when I came across this pack over at Warlord Games I knew I had to use them. There are a couple of official sculpts for the Witch Hunter warhounds but they're pretty much atrocious so I really didn't want to use them.

These mastiffs are realistic 25mm scale though, so when you put them next to a GW mini they're a little bit on the small side (especially considering that a full grown male can weigh in at 110 kg!), but with proper basing I don't think it'll be very noticable. Speaking of which, I just realized that none of the models I've shown on this blog has been properly based! It's horrible really! But, things should change soon enough. I'm getting my old bucket of sand back tomorrow so my Gears at least will soon look much nicer.

Anyway, here's the pack together with Herr Fleischman:

In other news, I played Battles of Westeros with my friend Anders a few days ago and it was a lot of fun! I'll write about it a bit more in depth in a later post after I've had a chance to play it again, but suffice to say I like it! Seems like a very good mix/compromise of miniature and board game.

Oh, and I just finished reading A Clash of Kings, the second book of A Song of Ice and Fire. Great stuff so far!

For Sigmar!!

Earlier I mentioned that we might start playing Mordheim: City of the Damned over here soon, and now I've painted my first warband member. A warrior priest of Sigmar!

Hans Fleischman - warrior priest of Sigmar.

I'm not entirely happy with the sculpted torches and stuff many of the Witch Hunter miniatures have as the fire rarely looks good painted, but it's not a big deal. He's also not got his proper base yet. I'm planning to use the round beveled bases that you can see in, for example, Warmachine.

I've had a whole lot of old Mordheim minis just laying around for ages that I bought back in the day, mostly with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay in mind. So this guy won't only find work in a Witch Hunter warband but also as a figure for the Initiate of Sigmar in our WFRP3 group. Two birds with one stone and all that!

At first I thought I'd make a Beastman warband as I need to paint some beastmen for the RPG anyway, but it felt kind of boring so I dug up the good old Witch Hunters instead. I've scoured the net looking for other, alternative minis and found a really cool looking guy that I'll use as a captain and also a pack of really awesome warhounds! I'll show you when I get them.
